Course Description

Effectively navigating the RTI process will allow support for students, teachers and families as well as impact the appropriateness of related service referrals. Increase your knowledge of the RTI process through the history, federal and state law, and tiered components.


Learn to incorporate specific, increasing intensity of instruction with evidence-based interventions to match a students needs within each tier. These supports may increase a student's success within the general education curriculum and the need for referrals to a specialized instructional service.


Incorporating successful strategies for communication and advocacy with leadership, time management, and resources for therapeutic interventions may break down barriers. The result is a win-win for the administration, therapist, teacher, and student.

Kareen Robbins MS OTR/L

With over 33 years of experience as a pediatric Occupational Therapist, Kareen has primarily provided services in the school setting, as well as outpatient clinics and home settings. For the last 27 years, she has been certified to administer the Sensory Integration Praxis Test (SIPT). Kareen has practiced throughout Pennsylvania and Ohio, in urban and rural school districts, and as an employee and independent contractor.

Upon receiving her Educational Administration license ten years ago, she successfully established and led a growing related service team. Following retirement from this role, Kareen began to provide professional development, consulting, and mentoring services internationally. Kareen is passionate about bridging the gap between knowledge and clinical practice to increase the confidence of related service providers, especially in the school-based provision of occupational therapy services, sensory processing, and tiered intervention services.
