You're an OT,

I'm an OT

We're all school-based OTs

"Jayson does a great job of organizing all parts of a school therapist's job and making it seem not as overwhelming. The resources he provided were great! Also, for new therapists this is a great course to take to feel more confident in what your role is as a school-based OT.

I highly recommend this course!"

-Rebecca Olsen

First Year School-Based OT

You're a school-based OT! You even associated the red colored pencils above with the BOT-2 before I pointed it out.

As an OT practitioner looking to improve yourself as a therapist, you are likely hoping to become a more thorough evaluator. Or maybe you are curious about learning how to incorporate a Response to Intervention (RTI) program as a way to slow down your growing evaluation list & caseload.

You may even just want to learn how to graduate students from your caseload rather than leaving them on consult until they finish high school or the adult day program.

Unfortunately, OT programs do not yet put enough focus on school-based OT despite estimates that 20-25% of OTs and OTAs work in the educational realm. Likewise, continuing education courses tend to focus on individual treatment models as opposed to the systems and educational aspects of school-based OT.

My name is Jayson Davies, and over the past 8 years I have worked closely with special education directors, coordinators, program specialists, psychologists, teachers, and of course, the occasional advocate/lawyer.

Each experience with these individuals has changed how I view OT from an education model and has led me to create this A-Z School-Based OT course so that you can better navigate the world of public education from the life of an OT.

After completing the A-Z School-Based OT course, you will walk into your schools knowing how to best support students through effective RTI strategies, complete thorough and efficient evaluations, write efficient goals, treatment plan for success, and provide services in the least restrictive environment.

If you are ready to join me in improving as a school-based OT and earn 8 hours of continuing education, click the button below to sign up now!

Registration closes on Friday, June 5th and the first session of the course is Tuesday, June 9th at 4 pm PST!

You will also receive access to a special BONUS RECORDED VIDEO for those of you who are just transitioning into the school-based setting or who are starting at a new school site. This video will help teach you how to get organized at your new site and provide tips for your first few days on campus.

Below are the objectives for the A-Z School-Based OT Course:

  • Participants will understand the importance of a pre-referral and referral process and how to implement an RTI process

  • Participants will understand how to complete a functional school-based evaluation utilizing the PEO Model.

  • Participants will understand the process of preparing for an IEP meeting- including those which may be “High Profile.” This includes the preparation of goals and determining the frequency of services.

  • Participants will demonstrate knowledge of how to present their results to an IEP team in a meaningful way.

  • Participants will understand the importance of developing a treatment plan and how to turn IEP data into a dynamic treatment plan.

After completing A - Z School-Based OT, I want you to feel confident in your abilities to walk into a new school-based OT job and be the best OT you can be! I am committed to providing you the knowledge and resources you need to do that! Below are the Objectives for the A-Z School-Based OT Course:

As an experienced therapist, you will especially appreciate the RTI strategies and tips toward reducing unnecessary evaluations.

Content and language will be specific to the school-based setting. And if you know me from the podcast, you know I am not afraid to tell it like it is.

Frequently asked questions!

8

How is the A-Z School-based OT course presented?

The 8 course sessions will be streamed live on the Zoom meeting platform live for 4 consecutive weeks starting Tuesday, June 9th. Sessions will be held on Tuesday and Thursday evenings from 4-5 pm pacific standard time (PST)

The live stream will also be recorded for those who were unable to attend the live stream and for anyone who wishes to re-watch the stream. While you do not have to attend the live stream, I would encourage you to join live when possible as we will have time for live Q&A following some of the sessions.

Will I earn Continuing Education for participation?

At the completion of the 8-week course, you will have the option to demonstrate your learned knowledge through an online quiz. Upon completion of this quiz, you will receive your certificate of completion for 8 hours worth of continuing education. The National Board for Certification of Occupational Therapy (NBCOT) does not require that a course be approved by any state or national organization. Please check your state’s requirements for continuing education needs as they vary from state to state.

Is the A-Z School-Based OT Course for me?

The A-Z School-Based OT Course is designed for occupational therapy providers who currently work in the school setting or who are ready to take the leap to school-based OT.

Seasoned therapists will appreciate hearing how Jayson provides RTI services in general and special education classes as a means to help more students in an effective manner.

Both novice and seasoned professionals will appreciate the handouts, templates and everyday tips that will help create an organized occupational therapy system at your school.

What is the cost to me?

The total cost of the A-Z School-Based OT Course is $199.99. This price includes all 8 live and recorded sessions, as well as handouts and templates that you can use the next day!

Will I be taking the course alone?

No, you will be joined by a limited number of other therapists. I have limited the number of participants to a manageable amount as to promote group interaction. As a student of the course, you will have access to all videos as well as a private Facebook group with myself and the other attendees.

Aside from the live videos, what else will I receive?

Let’s be honest, the best part of a presentation are the slides, right? Well, you are going to get all of my slides and more!

Along with the slides to my presentation, you will also receive several handouts and templates designed for you to customize and use in your practice! This includes my very own evaluation template that I use and the treatment plan template to help you guide your student outcomes. I'll even show you how to easily digitize your records.

You will also be invited to join the private Facebook page where your questions and ideas can be shared and responded to by myself and fellow members of the course. This is a great opportunity to keep the learning going with other therapists dedicated to school-based OT.

What is the Refund Policy?

If you do not find that the course is right for you, I will refund you 100% of the cost. I may ask a question or two, but it would only be to ask how I could make the course better for future participants. No hard feelings, I promise!

"I have been a COTA in the schools for many years and still found this course informative. The resources are fantastic and I am looking forward to sharing with my team.

Thank you Jayson!"
